We thank you in advance!
Well in the last year I've become quite attached to Wally. He's a real butterball. Generally if the ferrets that stay with me don't find homes within 6 months I keep them. You try giving them up after bonding with them that long! Plus he has a slight biting problem. **UPDATE** I've had Wally 3 years now. Not so much of a biter now, but there is no way I'm giving him up!
Bezil is not up for adoption because of his advanced age and his mental state. When he was dropped off he spent his first four days with us in a pillowcase, due to the stress of moving to a new home after all these years. The stress of moving again would probably kill him. Adopting him out is not an option, so he will live the rest of his life here, spoiled rotten as he should be. But if you'd like to help Bezil, please consider sponsoring him.
***UPDATE***Bezil has been diagnosed with lymphosarcoma. It is a terminal condition. Right now he is on a steroid treatment and his pronosis is good for the next few months. He seems to be in remission at this time.
***UPDATE***Bezil has been in remission ONE WHOLE YEAR!!!! YEAH BEZIL!!! Come check out his new "cancer survivor" page.
Bezil went to be with the angels on 8-14-06
Bugsy is one of our newer guys here at the shelter. Named so because of his big bug eyes. Nothing abnormal, just a little unusual. Bugsy was left outside a petstore in a taped up box. He's such a talker! Always up for a good time, Bugsy has a problem with enthusiastic biting (he just can't help himself sometimes it seems.) He is also one of Bezil's best buddies so I'm keeping him for those reasons, plus when he cuddles with me it just melts my heart. **UPDATE** I've had bugsy nearly 2 years now. He has been successfully integrated into Robbie's group.

This is the infamous Alex. Also know as the "bride of chuckie" or "the linda blair ferret" named by my vet. My precious little girl is deaf, and was abused by her previous owners. She has a SEVERE biting problem. Not a little problem, she is a major biter. But she's my little girl and I love her. She has gotten much much better since I have had her, now I can hold her- sans gloves- (wearing some bitter apple) without her biting me. I'll never adopt her out, now that she is finally trusting me, but I'm quite proud of her progress!
Alex Passed Away on 10-16-06
The first day I held her without gloves ;)
This is Maggie. She was found wandering outside, alone in winter. The family that found her first thought she was a rat she was so small, and unfortunatly fed her Meow Mix cat food instead of proper ferret food- so when I got her she only weighed 9 oz. I was planning on adopting her out, but due to her advanced age and hard life I've decided to keep her (she and Bezil are now buddies) so she can live out her life in comfort and happiness, wanting for nothing. It would be too stressful to try to place her into another home. Maggie passed on 12-6-05
Sam
Sam is one of our older residents. He is still in good health and has bonded to Leah and especially Marshmallow. But he is too old to be re-homed. So he is happy to stay here and live out the rest of his life in luxury here. He's a good guy.
Leah
Leah doesn't have any disablities that would keep her from being adopted, other than being bonded to Sam and Marshy- and I wouldn't want to break them up. She's quite sweet, she was abandoned as a baby on my doorstep. She's a tubby little thing now!
Marshmallow
Poor Marshy (short for Marshmallow) has a pretty horrible story. He was found, incredibly enough, by goat-herders (yes I know I live in the middle of nowhere) in an abandoned house near the Colorado boarder. He had a HUGE abcess on his neck, larger than an orange. The family that found him kept him for a few days and it kept getting worse, finally they brought him to me at about 9:30 at night. Of course he needed emergency surgery and we rushed him to the vet, saving his life. I decided to keep him, as a permanent resident, since he had been through so much. Good thing I did too, as the infection was so bad the first time, it reoccured a few months later. Poor Marshy! We think we finally got it this time. He is on two antibiotics, taken twice a day for three weeks. Because of his medical history, Marshy is staying with us. Luckily he has bonded with Sam and Leah and they are best buddies. He especially likes Sam.
Morgan
Miss Morgan is fairly new here. Given to me as a biter, I haven't had any problems with her personally. She did however want to take a chunk out of my vet. We seem to understand each other, but she doesn't seem to like many other people, or ferrets for that matter. She's an odd one, but I love her to death. She has a FABULOUS coat too!
Suki
Suki was taken from an abusive home. She had an inbedded collar, her toenails had curled around almost into the pads of her feet and she was suffering from malnutrition. I think this occured because it was a first time ferret owner, and Suki is something of a nipper. They just didn't want to deal with her. Because of her behavior problems, Suki would be hard to adopt out, and we don't want a repeat of what happened to the poor girl before. Suki is quite happy here, but is a bit of a bully!
Lilly
Lilly is an older girl, VERY tiny. I was boarding her and her cagemate for a client, when the client had to move away for personal reasons and could not take her ferrets. Lilly's cagemate Gizmo died of Adrenal Disease, and I thought it would be unfair to Lilly to adopt her out in her golden years, all alone. Luckily, she has made a new friend in Charlie, and they are very happy together.
Charlie
Charlie was just a normal ferret who came to us, with two other ferrets. The two other ferrets were bonded, and we adopted them out right away. Charlie was adopted out too but it didn't work out with him and the adopter's other ferret. So Charlie came back to us and I noticed he had a bad tooth! He had to have a fang (canine) removed. While he was recovering he met Lilly, and it was love at first sight. And how could I break little Lilly's heart by taking away her new boyfriend? So One-Fang Charlie is here to stay.
