Giving your Ferret Up
If you have a ferret and are no longer able to care for it, please do not "let it go in the wild." This will mean certain death for your ferret. Many of these unfortunate ferrets are found dead or wandering down the street at death's door, often suffering from starvation, dehydration and heat stroke. Ferrets are NOT wild animals and they cannot survive for more than a few days on their own.

If you can no longer care for your ferret, please contact the local Humane Society, find someone who will take your ferret and provide it with a good home, run an ad in the classifieds section of the newspaper, or contact a ferret shelter. Ferret shelters are filled with abused, neglected and unwanted ferrets. Whether you know it or not, your ferret has bonded with you and is very dependent on you for food, shelter and love. Please don't let your ferret down. Do the right thing and find your ferret a new loving home. There are many people out there who would love to have a ferret as a pet.  If possible tell the person taking your ferret what food was fed, and try to bring something of the ferret's along, like a hammock or a favorite blanket- something with his smell on it.  It often helps the ferret adjust to a new environment to have something familiar with him.

If you live in my area I would be more than happy to take your ferret and find it a wonderful home.  If I am unable to find a permanent home for any fuzzy, he or she will stay with my own ferret family.  Please Call before stopping by if possible  (505)334-0982
